Nigel Poole is a professional electronics engineer with 30 years experience. A graduate of the University of Leeds he spent 5 years working on microprocessor applications in industry before taking up an academic position at Coventry University. He teaches a variety of electronics subjects and is currently active with the Cogent Computing Applied Research Centre and Digital Forensics and System Security Applied Research Group.
Main research themes at present include micro-electronics for wireless sensor networks, low power and solar powered electronics, digital forensics for small mobile devices, and development of teaching aids to support activity led learning in electronics. Significant past research work has involved the design of digital integrated circuits, self-timed systems, digital video encoding and manufacturing techniques for high power electronics.
Nigel is a member of the Institution of Engineering Technology and a Chartered Engineer.
